KSP investigating fatal collision in Adair Co.

COLUMBIA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police are investigating after a wreck on KY 61 claimed the life of one woman, and sent a man to the hospital.

Troopers say at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, 57-year-old Samuel Edwards was driving northbound when he lost control of the 2002 KIA he was driving and ran off the road.  Investigators say the KIA began to flip, hitting the roadway multiple times before crashing into a tree and landing in a pond.

Both Edwards and his passenger, 45-year-old Alesha Morrison, were thrown from the vehicle.

Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner.

Edwards was airlifted to UK Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

Still no word on what caused Edwards to leave the roadway.
