UPDATE: Arrest made in connection to shooting death of teen

Update from June 2, 2021:

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (WTVQ) – A teenager was arrested and charged with complicity to murder on Wednesday, a day after another teenager died after being shot in Dawson Springs in Hopkins County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say 19-year old Michael A. Roche, of Dawson Springs, was arrested at his home.

Early Tuesday morning, 16-year old Dakota Carter, of Dawson Springs, was shot and died at the hospital after being airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, according to investigators.

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is looking further into a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday morning, June 1, in Hopkins County.

Close to 1:19 a.m., the KSP Post 2 in Madisonville was requested by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department to investigate a shooting on Hosick Avenue in Dawson Springs.

According to KSP, early findings showed that Dakota Carter, 16, of Dawson Springs had suffered a gunshot wound. He was first taken to Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, then was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where he passed away from his injuries.
