KSP investigates fatal crash in Pike County

BELFRY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky State Police continue to investigate a fatal crash that happened in the Belfry community on Wednesday, July 25.

The crash happened on US 119 in Pike County.

KSP Pikeville Post 9 says a call came in around 10 AM about a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

Reportedly, a vehicle driven by Cassie Tomblin of Logan County, West Virginia was traveling southbound on US 119 when it left the road and struck a pedestrian walking beside the road.

The pedestrian was identified as Robin Gail Porter, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

After striking Porter, the vehicle hit a utility pole and an earth embankment.

Tomblin and her two children who were also in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash and no charges have been made in the case.

This investigation remains open.
