KSP: Fire intentionally set to cover up murders

MURRAY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Preliminary autopsies show a mother and father were shot and killed and their two children died of smoke inhalation after their home was intentionally set on fire to cover up the murders, according to State Police.

The case began just before 10:00 p.m. on November 17, 2015, with a report of a house fire on KY 121 south, approximately a half-mile south of Murray in Calloway County.

Firefighters say after putting the fire out, they found the bodies of 29-year old Bulmaro Arellano, his wife, Marisol Hernandez, believed to be 24-years old and their two children, a 5-year old boy and 18-month old girl.

Preliminary autopsies show Arellano and Hernandez died of gunshot wounds and it’s believed both children succumbed to smoke inhalation; however, further testing is being done for verification, according to KSP. Investigators call the case a quadruple homicide.
