KSP, family asks for help solving murder of Nelson Co. mother and daughter

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Family members of two murdered victims are preparing for a somber anniversary.

Sunday will be five years since Kathy Netherland and her 16-year-old daughter Samantha were both found dead inside their Bardstown home.

On Wednesday, the Kentucky State Police held a press conference but had no new information on the case.

The family also spoke, saying they hope someone will come forward with information on the murders.

“No matter what happens, no matter what the resolution is, it’s never going to explain or justify or make their deaths make sense,” said Stacey Hibbard, Kathy Netherland’s sister.

Hibbard says it’s been difficult having five years pass with no answers.

“We loved them when they were there on earth. We love them now, when they’re not here. So, we try to focus on that. But there’s no question it’s very hard. This time of year particularly is really difficult, because you think about the beauty of spring, and the rebirth of spring, and knowing that’s when they left this earth, it shatters the peace of spring.”

Officers are continuing to search for a black Impala in connection to the murders. Anyone with information is asked to call (270) 766-5078.
