KSP: Cruiser hits suspect as he runs from troopers

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say a man was struck by a police cruiser as he tried to get away from troopers.

Investigators say it happened earlier today when authorities went to serve warrants on 35-year-old Derek L. Whitlock of Georgetown. Troopers say they were pulling into the parking lot outside of Whitlock’s apartment when he saw police and tried to run away.

State police say Whitlock then ran into the street, and collided with an oncoming cruiser. Investigators say he faces several charges, including alcohol intoxication and fleeing and evading.

According to troopers, Whitlock was taken to U.K. Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
