KSP: Child found dead in pond, appears to be accidental

CADIZ, Ky. (WTVQ) – A neighbor made a horrible discovery late Tuesday morning near Cadiz, a child dead in a pond near the child’s home, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say it appears the child wandered away from home and ended up in the small pond behind the home on Woodland Drive. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.  No age or name has been released.

KSP says the death appears to be accidental. Investigators say no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville, according to State Police.
