KSP Checks Car Seats For Safety

Kentucky laws require children who are less than 40 inches tall sit in a safety seat when riding in a vehicle.

State Police checked to make sure car seats were installed correctly on Saturday morning.

If a car seat was installed wrong, troopers took it out and reinstalled it. They then taught the parents the right way to put it in the car.

Trooper said 1 in 10 car seats aren’t installed properly.

“If we can make anything safer and hopefully save some lives,” said Trooper Robert Purdy, “That’s what we’re out here doing today.”

Purdy also said that any KSP Post will check car seats throughout the year.
