KSP trying to determine what kind of animal killed 13-year old boy
EMMALENA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A young boy was killed in an animal attack Tuesday evening in Knott County, but investigators still don’t know what kind of animal killed the teenager.
Kentucky State Police say Troopers were sent to a home on Montgomery Creek Road in the Emmalena community around 6:00 p.m. for a possible animal attack.
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Knott County Sheriffs Office, Lifeguard Ambulance and Ball Creek Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.
Troopers say they were led up to a mountainside behind a home where they found a 13-year-old boy with fatal wounds.
Knott County Coroner Corey Watson says the boy died on the scene from suspected injuries associated with an animal attack.
An autopsy was performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort Wednesday morning.
Investigators say the cause of death was initially determined to be from injuries consistent with an animal attack, though a specific animal identification was not determined.
