Knox County mother charged in crash that severely injured 3 children
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Deputies say a mother was driving under the influence when she crashed Monday night, severely injuring her three young children.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on Highway 11 at Green Road.
When they arrived, troopers say a 2006 Chevy Malibu was over an embankment and lodged against a tree.
Troopers say the children, ages 3,7 and 10, were all removed from the car and were all in critical condition. They say the children were taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Troopers say the driver, 34-year-old Laurel N. Sanders, suffered serious facial injuries. They say she was also taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Sanders is charged with driving under the influence and wanton endangerment.
