Knife-wielding bandit tries to rob Walgreens in Louisa: Police

LOUISA, Ky.(WTVQ) – A knife-wielding bandit tried to rob the Walgreens store Tuesday afternoon in Louisa.

According to Louisa Police, it happened at about 3:40 p.m. Walgreens employees advised  the Lawrence County 911 Center a man walked into the store with a knife and demanded various medications.

Officers said the man had dark hair, wore white shorts and was not wearing a shirt or shoes.

Investigators report he fled in a unknown direction in a 2002 purple/blue Nissan Xterra with West Virginia license plate 7SL910. Police said the SUV had been linked with a theft complaint in Wayne County, W.Va.

The case remains under investigation by Detective Hunter James and Ptl. Teddy Newsome. LPD was assisted by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact 606-638-4058 or hjames@louisapd.org or tnewsome@louisapd.org.
