Kim Davis: Time Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’?
NEW YORK, NY. (WTVQ) – Time Magazine has opened its reader’s poll for their annual Person of the Year award, and a familiar name is among the nominees.
Rowan Co. Clerk Kim Davis, who drew national attention when she refused to sign same-sex marriage licenses after a Supreme Court ruling – even spending a few days in jail on a contempt charge – makes an appearance on the list.
The latest poll updates from Time Magazine show Davis receiving 0.4% of the vote. Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders leads the pack with 10.7 % of the vote. He is followed by Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai and Pope Francis.
Other Kentucky notables on the list are American Pharoah and actress Jennifer Lawrence.
The magazine will continue taking votes until 11:59 p.m. on December 4th.
The tally only reflects reader’s votes; editors at Time will choose the winner based on their own criteria.
