Kidnapping suspect arrested after chase
LINCOLN CO. Ky. (WTVQ)- A Lincoln County neighborhood is calm again after law enforcement tracked down a kidnapping suspect.
According to Stanford Police, officers were in pursuit of a vehicle in Berea overnight in regards to an active kidnapping situation. Officers tried to stop the suspect in another county, but he led officers on a chase into Lincoln County.
Stanford Police said the chase ended in Forest Hill when the suspect got out of his vehicle and shot at officers. Police said officers returned fire and were able to get the kidnapping victim to safety.
A foot chase began after the shooting, in the area between Highway 27/590 and Highway 150, including the Cash Creek, Forrest Hills, and Indian Trails subdivisions. According to Stanford Police, the suspect tried to break into a residence but the homeowner was armed. The suspect took off again.
After officers searched for around four hours, the suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous, was located in a house under construction and arrested.
The suspects identity and charges have not yet been released.
