Kentucky Power assisting with Irma restoration efforts

ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ)- More Kentucky crews are making their way to Florida to help with restoration after Hurricane Irma.

Around 150 employees and contractors are heading down to assist Florida Power and Ligth, Duke Energy, and Tampa Electric Company in restoring electricity to millions of affected customers.

Kentucky Power contractors Asplundh Tree Experts, Wright Tree Service, and Davis H. Elliott will join in the effort.

There are two waves of crews heading to Florida; the first left Tuesday and the second will leave Wednesday morning.

Hurricane Irma hit while Kentucky Power employees were helping in Texas following Hurricane Harvey, but now they are able to help in Florida.
