Kentucky Housing Corporation advises Kentuckians on rent relief

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – With the federal eviction moratorium expiring on June 30, Team Kentucky, the Kentucky Housing Corporation, Lexington-Fayette County Urban Government and Lousiville-Jefferson County Metro Government want to help Kentuckians find apply for rent assistance.

Those looking to apply in Fayette County should go to covid19renterhelp.org. Jefferson County applications are available at stopmyeviction.org. For all other counties, renters can go to teamkyhherf.ky.gov.

Each program provides the same assistance of up to 15 months of rent relief. Team Kentucky’s Healthy at Home Eviction Relief Fund also will help with utility assistance for up to 15 months. Applicants’ income and other qualifications will be considered.

For the Team Kentucky program, both the landlord and tenant should fill out the application for a quicker turnaround and third parties can help both applicants with the application.

Kentuckians that submit an application now are more likely to receive their assistance and landlords will enter into a contract with the granting agency, providing up to another 45 days of eviction protection.

Since the launch of the Healthy at Home Eviction Relief Fund in February, $15.9 million has been approved in rental and utility payments, helping more than 4,000 Kentucky households.
