Kentucky Honor Flight to send WW2 veterans to D.C.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — The newest chapter of the Honor Flight Network was recently established in the Bluegrass State. The hub will begin flying WW2, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans to Washington, D.C. in 2016.

“We have one mission – to send as many of these brave heroes to see the memorials that are dedicated to their service and sacrifices,” Honor Flight Kentucky Board Member George Campbell said.

“Many of the veterans say it’s one of the best days of their lives,” said Campbell, who has accompanied veterans on several flights. “Donors and sponsors make this once-in-a-lifetime experience happen.

The public is invited and encouraged to welcome home HFK flights as they return from Washington, D.C.

Volunteers can sign up, and donations can be made at HonorFlightky.org,
