Kentucky gears up for severe storms: Gov. Beshear urges preparedness

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) -Kentucky residents are urged to prepare as the state braces for severe storms expected to hit today through Thursday.

Governor Andy Beshear emphasized the need for safety precautions, including staying weather-aware and having emergency plans in place. “Our No. 1 priority is to make sure everyone stays safe,” Beshear said in a release. “We know severe weather can come on very quickly, and with the possibility of tornadoes and flash flooding in the forecast, we need everyone to take action now by making a plan to keep you and your family safe.”

State offices will close early to ensure employees can get home safely. Emergency services are on standby, ready to assist those in need.

Residents are urged to document any storm damage for future assistance programs.
