Kentucky Emergency Management assessing damage from weekend storms

FRANKFORT, Ky: (WTVQ) – Kentucky Emergency Management officials say they are conducting damage assessments Monday in Bracken, Fleming and Mason Counties after severe weather moved through the Commonwealth early Sunday morning.

Additional plans are being set to survey the remaining north eastern Kentucky counties that were also impacted, authorities say.

Michael Dossett, director of KYEM, said, “I want to thank our first responders who effected numerous water rescues during darkness in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is their quick response and water rescue efforts that helped save lives.”

According to KEM, some northern Kentucky counties received over 6 inches of torrential rain in a short period of time, causing flash flooding and widespread damage.
