Kentucky Dept. of Insurance Frankfort office closed Wed.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Frankfort office of the Kentucky Department of Insurance (DOI), located at 215 West Main St., is closed Wednesday due to flooding caused by a plumbing malfunction. Approximately 90 employees are displaced.

Workers arrived this morning to find water standing on the first two floors of the building, including water in the elevators. Maintenance crews and building managers from Peach Rentals are on site assessing the damage and working to clean up the mess. Commonwealth Office of Technology is evaluating computer hardware damage.

At this point, it is unknown how long the repairs will take or when employees will return to work. Crews are working to restore phone service and other communications services.

This impacts only the DOI downtown location at 215 West Main Street. The department’s Leawood Drive location, where testing is offered, is operating as normal.
