Kentucky Colonels award grant to Franklin County Humane Society

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Honorable Order Kentucky Colonels (HOKC) has awarded a $2,374.75 grant to the Franklin County Humane Society so it can buy Trap/Neuter/Return cat traps.

According to the Humane Society, the Colonels will give $2.1 million in grants in 2019 to 265 non-profits, marking $50 million given to non-profits since 1951.

The $2.1 million is a record for HOKC’s Good Works Program.

The money for the grants comes from donations from Colonels.

“We cast a wide net across the Commonwealth and across the scope of those in need from aiding the abused, to assisting the handicapped, to supporting crisis relief to historic preservation. Our goal is to annually grant $5-mlllion to worthy causes. All funding is generated through donations from active Colonels ranging from $1 to major gifts, so to get to that dollar amount we must reach Colonels not engaged with us,” HOKC Commanding General Lynn Ashton said.
