Kentucky Attorney General claims pharmaceutical companies illegally conspired to monopolize generic drugs

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear announced Tuesday his office has amended a complaint in a lawsuit alleging pharmaceutical companies monopolized generic drug markets.

The complaint claims six generic drug companies illegally conspired to “restrain trade, artificially inflate and manipulate prices, and reduce competition in the United States for generic drugs”.

Beshear’s office first announced the lawsuit in December. This amended complaint increases the number of states involved in the suit.

The now 40 states involved are asking for a permanent injunction that would keep the companies from continuing their allegedly illegal actions.
