Kentucky ag commissioner nominee delivers healthy son

UNION, Ky. (AP) — Democratic agriculture commissioner nominee Jean-Marie Lawson Spann and her husband, Bobby Spann, are announcing the birth of their first child.

The campaign said the Spanns’ son, Lee Lawson Spann, was born Thursday morning in northern Kentucky.

Spann’s father, Sam Lawson, said mother and child are fine and she expects to return to campaigning "pretty shortly."

Spann is facing Republican nominee Ryan Quarles in the fall election.
