KEA names its 2020 Teacher of the Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Education Association has selected a Lexington middle school teacher as its 2020 Teacher of the Year.
Melanie Trowel, of Leestown Middle School, accepted the honor April 4 at the KEA Delegate Assembly in Louisville.
KEA says Trowel has more than 20 years’ of service in Fayette County Public Schools and is in her first year at Leestown Middle School.
She previously taught at Crawford Middle School, Tates Creek Middle, and Carter G. Woodson Academy.
“I am humbled to receive this award because I am surrounded by exceptional teachers who are also deserving of this recognition,” she said.
