Justice Elena Kagan to receive Brandeis Medal this month
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – The University of Louisville says U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan will visit Kentucky this month to receive the 2016 Brandeis Medal and participate in a conversation-style discussion.
U of L says in a statement that the Brandeis School of Law will give the medal to Kagan on Oct. 24 at the Brown & Williamson Club. The event was originally scheduled for Sept. 15, but was postponed.
Law school students and others who had previously registered for the Sept. 15 event are invited to attend.
The law school is named for Louis D. Brandeis, a former U.S. Supreme Court justice from Louisville. The medal is awarded to people who champion the values of Brandeis through work in areas including individual liberty, concern for the disadvantaged and public service.
