Jury indicts man on charge of murder in infant’s death

GLASGOW, Ky. (AP) – A Barren County man has been indicted on a murder charge in connection with the death of an 8-week-old infant.

Multiple Kentucky news outlets report a grand jury indicted 35-year-old Chad Flora Lewis on Thursday.

Authorities say Lewis is accused of shaking and throwing objects at the child on Sept. 6 while watching her for the child’s mother. According to court testimony, Lewis took the unresponsive child to a neighbor’s residence, where someone called 911.

Authorities say the child died two days later at a Louisville hospital from a closed head injury.

Lewis also faces other charges, including marijuana cultivation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Online jail records show Lewis is being held on bond at the Barren County Detention Center. It is unclear if the suspect has a lawyer.
