Judge refusing to throw out case over slot machine-style system

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Franklin County Circuit Court Judge is refusing to throw out a case over slot machine gaming.

The case went to court almost 6 years ago. The Family Foundation of Kentucky is arguing that the Encore Gaming System is similar to Instant Racing, which can be found at Keeneland and the Red Mile.

The Family Foundation argued that slot-like gambling violates Kentucky law.

Martin Cothran, a spokesman with the foundation told ABC 36 the ruling allows further investigation into the new gaming system  and their argument that the gambling pools created by such machines may never be fully paid out to winning players — as required by state law.
