John L. Smith introduced as KSU football coach

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – More than 40 years of college coaching experience is coming to Kentucky State football.

John L. Smith was formally introduced today as the head man of the Thorobreds.

Smith of course coached UofL, Michigan State, Arkansas and Weber State (for 4 1/2 months) to name a few.

Most recently, Smith was at division two Fort Lewis College where he led the program to its best record in 40 years at 7-4.

It’s all about family for Smith, who will be a short drive away now from his children and grand kids in Louisville.

Really, Smith says, the family never left the state.  His wife kept a house in the Commonwealth while he lived away coaching, but he’s glad to be back full time…and has one key goal in mind for the Breds.

Hear from Smith in the video.
