“John Doe” accused of assaulting Lexington officer
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a man assaulted an officer in Lexington over the weekend but they are having a hard time getting his name.
According to court documents, a police officer was waiting for a tow truck to take away a van that was parked illegally on South Limestone before the University of Kentucky game on Saturday when a man jumped into the van.
Documents say the 35-year-old suspect, identified as "John Doe," refused to put his hands up when confronted.
When the officer called for backup, the officer says the man hit him with his elbow and took off into traffic.
He was caught a short time later.
Court documents say he had heroin and a loaded gun that was stolen from Nicholasville on him when he was arrested.
