Jim Coleman hosts books signing at Black Soil

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — On Saturday, not only were people able to come and get healthy produce at Black Soil KY, but also a signed book by local farmer turned author Jim Coleman.

Coleman has been writing a series of children’s books based on his life at Coleman Crest Farm.

He has been doing book signings all over, even in Georgia.

On Saturday, Lil’ Jimmy came out to Black s=Soil to tell people about his life at the farm.

“Black soil is committed to the two thing that we are committed to at Coleman Crest Farm,” said Jim Coleman, owner of Coleman Crest Farm. “Which is providing good fresh produce and also literacy. What a great way to end the year and to kick off. We’re going to be doing this a lot more next year, but this is a great way to kick off the holidays.”

Co-founder and CEO of Black Soil, Ashley C. Smith, says the partnership honors their mission.

“We want to promote literacy through Black Soil KY, our mission and our vision,” said Smith. “We’ve been working with Coleman Crest Farm since it’s revitalization starting back in 2018. So today we welcomed Lil’ Jimmy to come back to fulfillment center.”

The first 25 people out at Black Soil were able to receive a signed copy of Coleman’s first book “Don’t sell the goose that lays the golden egg” and see his new book “Hang’em in the middle.”
