Jessamine Co. man awaiting trail for fatal DUI crash arrested again
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Jessamine County man is facing charges once again, just weeks before he was set to go to trial for a deadly DUI crash.
Police say James Kouns, 36, was arrested last Thursday, after police got multiple calls from witnesses, reporting a reckless driver.
According to police, Kouns told them he was at West Jessamine Middle School to pick up a child from a practice.
Police say Kouns was having trouble standing and struggled to answer simple questions officers asked him.
Kouns was severely under the influence of unknown narcotics at the time, according to police.
Police say when searching Kouns’ car, they found Clonidine pills, a sedative drug, in a glasses case.
At the time of his arrest, Kouns was out on a more than $100 thousand bond awaiting trial for a deadly DUI crash that killed Amber Parker, 30, in 2016.
Kouns is now back in the Jessamine County Detention Center on a $10 thousand cash bond.
