Jarrett’s joy cart holiday store opens at Kentucky Children’s Hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Monday, Jarrett’s joy cart holiday shop opened for its 19th year.

Jarrett Mynear was diagnosed with cancer when he was two years old. He fought cancer for 11 years and then passed away.

During his time at the hospital, he started collecting toys to give out to other sick kids with his mobile toy cart.

After he lost his battle to cancer his mother kept the tradition going.

Kentucky Children’s Hospital opened “Jarrett’s Joy Cart Holiday Store” and the patients get to pick out gifts for their loved ones for free.

“We have so many patients that are so grateful and so many families that are so grateful,” said Jennifer Mynear, Jarrett’s Mother.

Jarrett’s mother says patients that can’t get to the holiday store still get to pick out presents. Volunteers will bring a cart full of gifts to their room so they can shop.

All of the gifts come from donations.
