Jacobson Park Celebrates Expansion Of Dog Run

Jacobson Park in Lexington celebrated an expansion of its dog park on Wednesday.

The city said the project more than doubled the size of the existing dog park to almost eight acres.

The dog park’s chain link fence was replaced with wood fencing and new gates.

According to the city, the area was separated into two paddocks; one for smaller dogs and puppies and the other for larger, more active dogs.

The original Jacobson dog park opened to the community in 1991.

The city said the non-profit group ‘Friends of the Dog Park, Inc.’ had raised more than $130,000 for the construction and amenities.

The city also allocated $75,000 for the expansion.
