Jackson, Hughes elected to lead League of Women Voters

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)The League of Women Voters of Lexington recently elected its board of directors for the 2020-21 year.

Jennifer Jackson and Mary Hughes were elected co-presidents. Hughes also will serve as first vice president for programs. Jackson will serve as second vice president for voter services.

Other officers elected are Ollie Rashid, secretary and Barbara Sterrett, treasurer.

Elected directors include: Sadie Bograd, Megan George, Joyce Hahn, Cindy Heine, Liza Holland, Toni Reiss and Mark Scarr. Others appointed to the board are Lauren Brown, Maureen Murphy, Leslie Scott and Sharon Stewart.

The League is an activist nonpartisan organization of women and men that encourages citizen involvement in government through voter registration, lectures, candidate forums and programs, all of which are free.

The League also publishes an annual “blue sheet” that provides contact information for all government officials and offices of concern to Fayette County residents.
