“It means that we’re doing our job.”: First Baptist’s ‘Unity in the Community”

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – First Baptist Church in Frankfort and the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging partnered together for the church’s fourth annual Unity in the Community event on Saturday.

The event was started after the passing of Dr. Rosby Glover, the church’s late pastor.

People in the community were able to visit multiple health care vendors and receive free health screenings.

Organizers says the hope of this event is to have fellowship and help spread awareness of important health information to the community.

“It means that we’re doing our job,” says Pastor Tiangello Hill. “It means that we’re reaching beyond the four walls and just being a help to all mankind.”

And it’s great to see people in the community come out to the event.

“People care, because when people get together we’re all just people,” says Kimberly Glover. “No matter what race, what nationality, it’s bringing love to one another, showing how much we care and just to know that the church is here to help anyone in need.”

Community members were also able to enjoy food, speak with other local organizations and listen to live music.

The church even had 75 bikes to give to children.
