Irvine Man Charged With Attempted Murder of Officer
IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Richmond Register is reporting that an Irvine man has been arrested after he reportedly tried to run over a police officer.
According to the newspaper, 25-year-old Timothy L. Hoskins was passed out in the driver’s seat of his vehicle when an officer approached him.
When the officer knocked on the window, investigators say Hoskins reached for his keys and started his vehicle, despite orders to stop, according to the Register. The officer reportedly opened the door to detail Hoskins, but Hoskins shoved the officer and hit him with the car door.
The Richmond Register says that’s when police say Hoskins gunned his vehicle and tried to run the officer down. Investigators say the officer was able to leap to safety.
Police say Hoskins then drove off, running over a curb at a nearby gas station. Officers say Hoskins was under the influence at the time of the incident.
The newspaper says Hoskins was eventually arrested, charged with attempted murder of a police officer, public intoxication, resisting arrest, criminal mischied, and fleeing or evading.
He was taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
