Knott County man killed in head-on crash

KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police are investigating after a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck killed a man Friday afternoon in Knott County.

KSP says the collision happened around noon on Mullins Branch Road in the Kite community.

Investigators say 31-year-old Eugene Campbell, of Kite, was driving a Honda CBR 500 motorcycle when he collided head-on with a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. They say Campbell was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Knott County coroner. Investigators say Campbell was not wearing a helmet.

State Police say 52-year-old Willard Ritchie Jr. was driving the pick-up truck with a juvenile passenger, both were wearing seat belts and were not hurt.

No word on the cause of the accident. Troopers say toxicology reports are being collected.
