Inside the Keeneland September Yearling Sale
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The opening day of the esteemed Keeneland Yearling Auction set a new record.
Colts brought top dollar on the opening day, some even going for $2.5 million.
That number is both the highest amount spent on a yearling at public auction in North America this year, and exceeds last year’s 2.4 million sale topper.
The ‘Tapit’ colt is half-brother to 2016 Derby winner ‘Nyquist’.
The same buyer also bought the second priciest horse of the day, a son of ‘Medaglia D’Oro’ for $2.15 million.
ABC 36’s Amber Freeman was at the auction, but as she told us she wasn’t talking much about the horses at all.
We’ll let her show you why.
