Indiana man arrested in Lexington on child sexual exploitation offenses

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police with the Electronic Crime Branch have arrested an Indiana man they say traveled to Kentucky with the intent of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl.

Officers say 50-year-old Dean B. Nixon was arrested on Thursday at about 9:00 p.m. after investigators executed a search warrant on his hotel room and vehicle.

Troopers say the arrest was the result of an undercover investigation.  Officers say Nixon was found online using a chat system to speak with what he believed was a young girl.  They say Nixon crossed state lines with the intent of meeting the girl, unaware he had actually been communicating with an undercover investigator.

Nixon is charged with prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor for sex offenses.  The charge is punishable with up to five years in prison.  Troopers say additional charges are expected.

Nixon was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center.
