Incarcerated fathers dance with daughters at Woodford County Detention Center

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky.(WTVQ) – Non-violent offenders were able to meet their daughters on the red carpet for a night of fun at Woodford County Detention Center Saturday.

Strengthening Transformations Inc., serves the populations of women and children affected by domestic violence, teen pregnancy and substance abuse. The Father Daughter dance is an extension of that outreach, creating a stronger bond for families.

Founder Brittany Campbell says she believes a girl’s relationship with her father sets the tone for all other male relationships in her life.

The dance was especially important for men like Joseph Puckett who, before Saturday’s dance, had not seen his daughter Emma in a year.

“She’s like my best friend, I’ve been away for a while, but I can’t wait to get out to her and have her in my life,” he said.

Puckett said he is very grateful for the opportunity to continue a healthy relationship with his daughter and make lasting memories.
