Inaugural RiverFest to exhibit all the Kentucky River has to offer
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Press Release) – Bluegrass Greensource is hosting their inaugural Kentucky RiverFest at Proud Mary BBQ on August 22nd, 2021 from 11AM-3PM.
The Kentucky RiverFest will be an opportunity for community members to get outside and enjoy all that the Kentucky River has to offer. Canoe Kentucky will run free trials of various watercraft including canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards. Local businesses and organizations will also be on site in the informational booth area.
“The Kentucky RiverFest is an exciting opportunity for our community to learn about the people and organizations that are involved with our local rivers and watersheds,” states Amy Sohner, Executive Director of Bluegrass Greensource.
Participating organizations include: Keep Lexington Beautiful, Boone Creek Outdoors, Kentucky Riverkeeper, Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, Kentucky River Authority, Kentucky Nature Preserve, Canoe Kentucky, Kentucky Watershed Watch, and the Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute.
The Kentucky RiverFest is presented by Bluegrass Greensource in partnership with Proud Mary BBQ and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Stormwater Quality Projects Incentive Grant Program.
Bluegrass Greensource is an environmental non-profit organization that has offered resources and educational information to 19 Central Kentucky Counties since 2001. Greensource provides outreach to over 230 schools, 600 community groups, businesses, local governments and private citizens throughout Central Kentucky.
