Image released of accused cigarette thief

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police are working to identify a man who’s accused of stealing a large box of cigarettes from a Speedway gas station in the 900 block of Winchester Road August 14.

An employee told investigators she was stocking shelves behind the counter when a man went behind the counter and took a box containing 36 cartons of cigarettes.  The clerk told police she tried to stop the man, but he was able to run out of the business.

Police say the stolen cigarettes were worth more than $1,000.
