I-64 Construction Begins in Franklin Co. Next Week

Repair work is about to begin to resurface a five-mile stretch of I-64 in Franklin County.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the $2.6 million project will last from mile markers 53 to 58 and impact east and westbound lanes.

The construction will start next week on the ramps leading to U.S. Highway 60. The ramps will be narrowed, but they will remain open.

Resurfacing on the Interstate itself will begin in May, with lane closures lasting from 7pm until 7am every weeknight and from 7pm on Fridays until 7am on Mondays.

The project is expected to last until July. Fines will be doubled in the construction’s 55 mph zone.
