Hundreds of paws fill park for annual Woodford Wag

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ)- There were hundreds of paws in the park in Versailles this morning. Dogs and their people came out to Woodford County Park for the 6th annual Woodford Wag. The 5K run and 2K walk raises money for the Woodford Humane Society.

This year, the three top fundraising groups alone raised about $10,000.  Veterinarian Dale Eckert’s Labrador Retriever Sophie raised more than $4,000 to help homeless animals. And Vicki and Hans Albrecht’s beloved Pistol Pete raised more than $3,000 for the Woodford Humane Society. There was also Nickie Danford and Kristen Mueller’s ‘Team Couch Potato’, raising more than $1400. Click here to see how the donations added up.

And the volunteers won’t be slowing down anytime soon. They’re getting ready for the shelter’s biggest annual fundraiser.

Freedom Fest will be held Saturday, July 25 at Ashford Stud. Click here to purchase tickets.
