Hotel clerk fights back against robber and it’s all on video

PADUCAH, Ky. (WTVQ) – Newly-released surveillance video from Paducah police shows one man picked the wrong clerk to rob.

According to the Paducah Police Department, a man came into the Country Inn and Suites on Monday wearing a white shirt around his face and carrying a gun.

He demanded money from the clerk, who eventually threw cash on the counter. The surveillance video shows the robber place his gun on the countertop to put the money into a plastic bag, and that’s when the clerk grabs the gun and points it at the robber who runs out. He then comes back inside the business, and the clerk again pointed the gun at him. The robber left again, getting into a dark-colored passenger car and taking off, according to police.

Police say the suspect, 26-year-old Cory Phillips, was arrested the next day.
