Belts and Hoses

Belts and hoses are some of the key components that keep your engine running and your car on the road.

If either of these fails, it could lead to your vehicle’s engine overheating, loss of power steering or loss of electrical system. In order to avoid, this check the belts.

Make sure your engine is off and it’s at a cool temperature, then grab a flashlight. When checking belts, you want to look for a cracked belt or frayed edges.

Also, checking the tension of the belt is important. If it’s too loose, it’ll cause chirping when it starts up. This will cause the belt to eventually break, which will ultimately disable your vehicle.

Next check the hoses. Look for any leaks, cracks, splits or blistering of the hoses. Those can cause serious problems down the road.

Steam coming from under the hood or even squealing from the engine area are other symptoms your vehicle’s hosed may be leaking.

Make sure at every oil check, have your vehicles belts and hoses checked as well.
