Honor Flight Kentucky to host first all-female flight for women Veterans

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Honor Flight Kentucky is doing things a bit different next year. They’re working on putting together their first all-female flight for women Veterans.

Honor Flight Kentucky officials say they wanted to appreciate the service and sacrifice of our female Veterans so they created a special flight just for them.

Honor Flight Kentucky is a non-profit that flies our nation’s Veterans to Washington D.C. every year to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. Next summer, organizers say they hope to have a full flight for their Operation HERoes.

“Half of that flight will be female Veterans from the Vietnam and Korean Wars and WWII and the other half will be female Veterans that are younger than the Vietnam War and have served since then,” said Ashley Bruggeman, Board of Directors with Honor Flight Kentucky. “So, it will allow for this great commraderie between those generations which will just be fanatastic. And, I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for younger girls to see what true heroism looks like.”

Operation HERoes will take flight June 12, 2021. There are a few qualifications you have to meet in order to apply. You can view those HERE.

There are other flight applications available to Veterans and volunteers which can be viewed HERE.
