Homes And Businesses Damaged By Storms In Harlan County

Homes and businesses were damaged Monday afternoon as strong storms ripped through Harlan County.

Thousands of people were left without electricity after the damaging storms moved through the area.

Emergency Management said an estimated 6,700 people were without power at the height of the outage.

Strong winds damaged three businesses and numerous homes in the Evarts community and one home was destroyed in Harlan, according to David McGill, Harlan County Emergency Management Director. 

Numerous trees and power lines were reported down throughout Harlan County.

No injuries were reported, according to Harlan County Emergency Management.
