Homemade ‘pipe bomb’ found in Cynthiana rental home

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have taken the pipe bomb to investigate.

The investigation is still ongoing on who made the bomb and why.

A homemade pipe bomb was found in a rental home in Harrison County Wednesday afternoon, Cynthiana police said.

Around 2 p.m., police were called by the property’s owner on Springdale Avenue that he found what he believed to be a pipe bomb as he was cleaning out the home.

Cynthiana police and fire both responded and notified residents in the neighborhood in case an evacuation was necessary.

The Lexington Hazardous Devices Unit assisted Cynthiana authorities in removing the homemade pipe bomb.

Cynthiana police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are heading the investigation.
