Hiker rescued in the Red River Gorge after ankle injury
WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A scary situation for a hiker in the Red River Gorge after he was rescued when crews found him in the early stages of hypothermia with an ankle injury.
The Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team says a six person team found the hiker on the banks of a small creek.
The hiker needed to be warmed quickly and carried out in a rescue basket.
Wolfe County Search & Rescue says the injured hiker is a regular visitor and called him a “very pleasant soul,” during the rescue.
It adds he’s invited back anytime.
