Hiker dies from apparent heat stroke

STANTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man has died from apparent heat stroke while hiking.

According to Wolfe County Search and Rescue, the team was requested for mutual aid by Powell County Search and Rescue around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Wolfe County Search and Rescue said quick access was made to a man near the Auxier Ridge trail head when the team arrived.

Powell County Emergency Medical Services provided advanced life support to the man who was having an apparent heat stroke, but the man did not survive, according to Wolfe County Search and Rescue.

The hiker has not been identified.
